Experience the magic of South India during this 12-day multi-sensory tour supporting Guide Dogs Victoria.
With a strong traditional culture, rich history and delicious cuisine, India is a country that evokes all of the senses. Take in the sights as you trek through tea plantations and smell the rich aroma of locally grown coffee. Be dazzled by the colours of local arts and dance performances. Your tastebuds will be tantalised as you dine on traditional Indian dishes, and if that’s not enough, you will be transported back in time as you go on safari to experience elephants and tigers roaming freely through Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary.
This responsible travel experience will begin with a four day trek along the tea trails and surrounding forests of Munnar in the South Indian state of Kerala. This is where you will be joined by expert local guides, who will support you every step of the way. Take in spectacular vistas of the surrounding forest and challenge yourself by summiting Meesapulimala, the second highest peak in South India! Visit Suryanelli Estate, the highest tea plantation in the world, and learn more about the art of tea making. After completing the trek you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural and historical wonders of the region. Visit the Wayanad evergreen forest, one of the most biodiverse regions in India, sample some of the world’s best coffee and visit local temples.
By joining this challenge not only will you make friends that will last a lifetime, but you will learn about: tea and coffee farming, Kathakali traditional Indian dance, and the natural and historical wonders of the region. For each step you take you will be helping to breed, raise and train a life changing Guide Dog to step into the life of someone living with low vision or blindness.
